Teaming up with a local high school

Just before the high school kicked off their Christmas holidays we worked with the students for a week long mission and are still reaping the fruits!

Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan with Principal and Vice Principal of All Hallows High School.

A transformative week

In small groups, all the missionaries planned and taught religion classes for the week. We prayed as much as we could for the success of the mission and, to say the least, hearts were really touched and the guys were totally receptive to everything we had to say.

My small group taught religion for 150 16-18 year olds by being real and authentic about how we follow God in faith. One of the activities was to give each person a slip of paper where they could anonymously write any question about faith or life in general.

Some questions that students posed to us

Why do we feel helpless sometimes?

Why is the world full of negtivity?

Was there a point in your life where you felt God abandoned you?

Why is it that I always hate myself? I can hide it very well but I don't know how much longer or if I'll ever cope with myself.

"The mission is vital!"

There is so much suffering here in the Bronx, even in the lives of the students we encountered and that's what makes the mission of talking about the love and mercy and hope of God so vital! We don't want people to fall off the edge. We want them to know that they are loved and they deserve to be happy, and it is God's love that will make them truly happy.

"I believe I've become a better follower of Christ because of them." Joshua, 17, All Hallows senior.
